Meet David McKee, Brantford’s Town Crier
Here’s why you’ll often see David at various events throughout the year:
David McKee marks 32 years (2024) as Brantford’s Town Crier, a journey that began 33 years ago with the Chamber of Commerce. Starting in 1991 with a pirate costume, David became the official Town Crier in 1992 after securing a proper uniform and the City’s endorsement.
The Role of a Town Crier
Historically, Town Criers were official messengers. Today, David’s duties include civic, charitable, and commercial announcements, adding color to events, and promoting Brantford.
Ambassador of Brantford
David is Brantford’s ambassador, competing internationally and gaining media attention. He has received numerous awards, including the President’s Award from the Chamber of Commerce Brantford Brant and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal.
Passion and Partnership
David combines his love for performing and history in his role. His wife, Betty Jean, plays a crucial part in his success.
We can’t imagine our events without David McKee. His dedication, humor, and commitment have truly made a difference. Oyez indeed, David. Thank you for 33 amazing years of service. We are deeply grateful. Well done!
